The Cox Johnny Rebel
Go picking in style with the limited edition Cox Johnny Rebel banjo. The neck and resonator are made from select curly maple, with a clear lacquer finish. The peghead features a mother-of-pearl eagle with detailed engraving of the feathers and arrows. A bugle, crossed swords, and 13 stars are inlaid into the neck. A Confederate army field commander on horseback is pictured on the resonator.
There were 20 field commanders in the Confederate army. Only 20 of these banjos will be made, one named for each of the commanders. The neck rod cover is engraved with the commander's name. The "Robert E. Lee" and the "Stonewall Jackson" are already gone. These won't last long.
This banjo uses the Timeless Timber old wood rim. These special 3-ply rims are made by Jimmy and his grandsons from centuries-old logs raised from the bottom of Lake Michigan. This wood is very dense and perfectly preserved from its years under water. Carefully sawed, steamed, bent and machined, this wood makes an outstanding banjo rim.
